The keyboard keys are:
The gears are arranged REVERSE-NEUTRAL-1-2-3-4-5. Neutral disconnects the engine from the wheels. Use low gears to set off and go up and down hills slowly and higher gears to go faster.
Space toggles the handbrake ON and OFF. The S key restarts the engine if it has stalled.
Clutch works best with a USB controller with analog joysticks. To do this plug in a USB controller then press the analog button so both joysticks work.
So what is a clutch? The clutch is like a hand that normally holds tightly to the flywheel of the engine. As the flywheel spins the clutch also spins round turning the gearbox input shaft driving the wheels.
To stop or go slowly the hand needs to loosen its grip, this allows the gearbox and wheels to stop and the flywheel to keep going. You loosen the grip by pressing the clutch pedal.
The dashboard shows both your engine flywheel RPM and your road speed.
Normally you must press the clutch down firmly while changing gear or the gears will grind. To make the game easier you can turn on the autoclutch, so the game does this for you.
If your engine slows down to much it stalls. The starter is needed to get going again, you need to change to neutral gear first (or press the clutch) so the engine is free to spin.
If you are learning to drive or are interested in understanding more about motor vehicles then clutch is a game for you. In this simulator you drive a small petrol car using a manual gearbox and all three pedals including the clutch. You have to perform a range of challenging manoeuvres and head out across various terrains.
The keyboard keys are Q=gear-up A=gear-down S=Starter V=clutch B=brake N=throttle SPACE=handbrake, but clutch is better played using a USB gamepad controller.
